Start with the right questions
Lagos has no shortage of contractors. The hard part is telling the serious firms from the rest. Before you hire an engineering and construction partner in Lagos, ask these five questions.
1. Are they registered and accountable?
A firm registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission, with a track record and a fixed head office, is one you can hold accountable. Ask for the RC number and confirm it. Denkay Projects Limited is RC 1086330, established in 2010.
2. Can they deliver more than one discipline?
If your architect, engineer and contractor are three different companies, every change becomes a negotiation. A multidisciplinary firm — one that handles design, engineering and construction — removes that friction.
3. What is their safety record?
Ask how they manage safety on site. A firm with a real QHSE system will tell you about risk assessments, inductions and permit-to-work. A firm without one will change the subject.
4. Where have they worked?
Experience in your sector matters — whether that is real estate, oil and gas, or commercial development. Ask for relevant past projects, not just a glossy portfolio.
5. How do they communicate?
The best firms give you clear, regular updates and a single point of contact. If communication is poor before you sign, it will be worse during the build.
The takeaway
The right partner is registered, multidisciplinary, safety-led, experienced in your sector, and easy to talk to. If that sounds like what you need, start a project with us on the contact page.
